Miss Wessinger was formerly with the local Clevenger College. I . 1 .. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Swofford were business visitors in Charlotte Friday. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Billings, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson spent last week-end at Carolina Beach. The picnic supper held at Smoot Park by the First Methodist church on Wednesday evening was largely attended. Dr. and Mrs. M. C. Edwards were in Hendersonville last weekend attending a district veterinary meeting. Mr. Robin N. Wooten, principal of the North Wilkesboro public school was in Chapel Hill from Thursday until Sunday attending a principals' meeting. Miss Eleanor Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buren Yates, of thiB city, is spending awhile in Roanoke, Ya., with Mr. and. Mrs. Stanley Stark. Mrs. Frank Steele, of Anderson, S. C., is visiting here in the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Z. O. Eller and Mrs. Isaac Eller, Sr. Mrs. Steele is a sister of Mr. Eller. Mrs. G. W. Sebastian, who was a patient at the Wilkes Hospital, has been nioved to the home of her son, Mr. Eugene Sebastian, at Halls Mills. Mr. Lyle Bills, of Jackson, Michigan, spent a few days here last ■week In the home of hta cousin, Mrs. Walter Myers, and Mr. Myers. Miss Stella Perkins, of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. L. P. Argenbrlght, of Salisbury, Md., -.idlted here recently in the home Of their brother, Mr. Bon Perkins, and Mrs. Perkins. Mrs. Edward S. Finley and young son, Edward, Jr., and Mrs. Finley's mother, Mrs. W. J. Heath, visited for several days' last week in Monroe in the home of Mr. J. R. English. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Payne and two daughters, Bettie Ghloe and Sarah Jane, attended the horse show at Lenoir Tuesday and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Owen E. Duncan and two sons, Danny and Cary, of Pageland, S. C., are expected here tomorrow to visit for a few days with Mr. Duncan's mother,' Mrs. J. E. Duncan. Mrs. John O. Plonk, of Kings Mountain, and her sister, Miss Bernice Foust, of Washington, D. C., visited here several days during the week-end in the home of Mrs. Plonk's daughter, Mrs. W. H. McElwee, and Mr. McElwee. Mr. and Mrs. johnny Gaither have returned to Tampa, .Florida, after spending some time with his mother, Mrs. W. E. Gaither, and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Harris. They also visited Mrs. Gaither's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaither Kilby, at Jefferson, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Deal and two children, David and Mary Lou, recently returned to their home here from a week's visit in Maryland. They visited Major and Mrs. M. L. Shepherd at Annapolis, and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Hitchins at their lodge in the Pocomo Mountains, where they enjoyed, a fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Carter of 612 9th St. were guests of their daughter, Celia, at Camp Yonahlossee on Parents Day, July 30. The parents after a Sunday morning Worship assembly were served a turkey dinner. Exhibitions in archery, tennis and swimming were held for the guests' entertainment during the day. A total of ninety-four guests visited cam; land remained for dinner. and Mrs. W. R'. Harmon and Mr. and Mrs. Wade C. Wallace spent the week-end at Cherokee and attended a performance of the pageant, "Unto These Hills." M s.
