Loyd Pardue, delivered the Sunday morning sermon. After dinner on the grounds, Rev. Mr. Pepper, of Kentucky, delivered a good sermon, which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Lilie Bradley and Mrs. Euhtla Brown and daughter of North Wllkesboro, visited Mrs. Warren Darnell and daughters Sunday evening. Billy Bradley of North Wilkesboro is spending a few days with friends and relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Williams and daughters of Winston-Salem visited Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Tharpe and family during the week-end and attended the home coming. Other visitors in the Tharpe home Sunday afternoon were J. W.- Poplin, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Poplin and daughter, Ernest Poplin's family, Mrs. C. F. Stroud Of Jones ville, Mrs. Maude P. Whitman and two children of WinstonSalem, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Poplin and family, Mr/ and Mrs. F. C. Anthony, Mr. and Mrs. David Tharpe and Joe Lankford's family. Miss Lillle Norman is spending a few days in Mrs. W. E. Key's home, while Mrs. Irvin Key is spending a few days in Raleigh attending the Farm and Home Week. Miss Ila Tharpe and Mrs. C. R. Byrd also went to Raleigh from the Buggaboo Home Demonstration club. < o— Club At Mountain View In Meeting The Mountain View Home Demonstration Club met on Wednesday night with Mrs. Slater Prevette for the July meeting with fifteen present. The club selected Mrs. F. C. Johnson and Mrs. Paul Church to I attend Farm and Home week in Raleigh. Plans for the fair booth were discussed and Mrs. L. O. Watkins was appointed chairman of the committee onarrangements. Mrs. F. C. Johnson gave a very helpful demonstration on shrubs that was enjoyed by everyone present. Mrs. Prevette was assisted in serving a delicious salad course by Mrs. Bill Pendry and Mrs. Troy Perry during a delightful social hour. Fiddlers Contest At Galax Aug. 11-12 The 15th Annual Old Fiddlers Convention and Music Festival will be held on the Nights of August 11th and 12th at Felts Park in Galax, Virginia. This affair staged by The Loyal Order of Moose in co-operation with the Galax Chamber of Commerce is expected to be one of the largest and best that has been held since they were begun in 1935. Cash Prizes totaling around $175.00 will be awarded to contestants, and attendance •prizes will also be given to the spectators. o Owen S. Dobbins Rites Wednesday Funeral service was held Wednesday at Mountain Valley church tor Owen Spencer Roberts, 44, colored resident of the Roaring River community who died Sunday. Rev. John Parsons nad Rev. L. J. Carlton conducted the service. Surviving are his wife, Susie Dobbins,-and six children: Alease, Owen, Jr., Augusta, Charles, Bertha Mae and Carolyn Dobbins, of the home.
