If OTICJES. Departed this life, in the town of Salisbury, on Sat ordny, the 5th of February, 1853, at the residence of Dr.-Aleiandvr Long, the father of the deceased, Mra. ELIZABETH COWAN H ELFER, consort of H. H. Heifer, aged 24 years and 10 months. Mrs. Heifer died of consumption; being confined some ail months. She embraced religion under the ministry of Rev. 8. M. Ftost, some sis years sgo. From the day of her. conversion, she exhibited the sure marks of sound, deep, snd fervent piety. She united herself to the Methodist E- Church ; of wbicb, she re mained an acceptable member, until God called her to the Cburcb triumphant in glory. Her deportment was uniforrnily christian. Piety was the path in which she walked ; giving lo the world a beaatiful eiemphcstion ol lhooe christian graces, which adorn human lite. Deep, protracted, and painful were .her affliction, but she bore them with great patience and fortitude. Meek ness and humility, rare snd lovely ornaments of piety, were conspicuous in her character. .Naturally modest and retiring, her christian light shone with stesdiness and mi Id new, rsther than with showy brilliancy. Her victory over death was triumphant, which is the clear est eytdenceof the deprh and genuineness of her pivty. J Sin makes death friRhiful. but the sling of death being1 removed by Christ, she hil the " King of terrors" with unruffled composure and a holy boldneis. When dying she exclaimed, " I sm perfectly willing and ready lo go perfectly resigned come Lord Jesus, come quick ly." JMore detsh, rsdtnr, glrw of the itfMt'worW seemed to linger upon her countenance, as a token of welcome teception hi Heaven. She is gone gone gone. But where 1 To those regions snd scenes of grandeur and splendor,- where the spring of immortal life, spreading in boundless hauty and diffusing e ternuVfreslinrss, shall display its unfolding bloom amid ihe living melody of harp and hymn. With her, the pilgrimage of life is closed, snd e(ernily opens to her the radiance of s sublimer state of existence.
