""ll?The New York Express states that the disclosures made by the va rious Ward Charity Meetings, in re lation to the sufferings of the poor in that city, are of the most awful character. It is asserted on the au thority of the central committees that ut the present period, not less than forty thousand persons in the city of New York are dependent on the hand of charity for their daily supplies of food and fuel. Amongst those are found not only the vicious and improvident, but thousands of the most industrious, ami hither to laborious of the population, but they do not work merely because th(?y can find nothing to do labor being at present out of the question. The Express adds that there is not a day passes in that city in which there are not more or less deaths from want of food and fuel. Newspaper Stock. We learn from an advertisement inserted on the fourth page of the New York Courier and Enquirer, that the pro prietor of that paper intends apply ing to the Legislature of New York, now in session, to authorize him to convert the Morning Courier and Enquirer into a Stock Company, , with a capital of Three Hundred j Thousand Dollars. It is entirely unnecessary to make any comment upon this thotough bred horse, in his Pedigree which is given below, should, independent, of Ihe fine perfor mances of the few colls of his get, on the racing Turf, recommend him, to all un prejudiced judges, as a horse that should not as to genuineness of blood, stand mfe rior to none others in the State of North Carolina. The many good crosses both of American and imported stock, should just ly entitle him to a reputation sufficient, to entitle him justly lo an extensive pat ronage, by all those, who are anxious to raise race horses of never flinching game, connected also with no small degree of speed. With correct and proper crose his colts cannot fail to figure as splendidly on the Turf as any others in America. For an account of his colts' races see Turl Register and Spirit of the Times. It this opportunity is not accepted by those who ire anxious to improve their slock, a source of regret may hereafter be occasion ed, as another so favorable may not be "ivpn.
