JSoITaVs Life Medicines
Is no longer a matter of doubt, as a refer
ence to the experience of many thousand
patients will satisfactorily prove. During
the present month atone, nearly one hun
dred rases have come to the knowledge ol
Mr. M off.it I, where the patient has, to all
appearance, effected a permanent cure by
the exclusive and judicious use ofthe Life
medicines some eiht or ten of these had
been considered beyond all hope by their
medical attendants. Such happy results
are a source of great pleasure to Mr.
and inspire him with new confidence lo re
commend the use of his medicines to his
fellow citizens.
The Ijife Medicines
Are a puiely VEGETABLE preparation.
They are mild and pleasant in their ope
ration, and at the same lime thorough
acting rapidly upon the secretions of the
system carrying off all acrimonious hu
mors, and assimilating with and puiifying
the blood. For this reason, in aggravated
cases of Dyspepsia, the Life medicines will
give relief in a shorter space of time than
any other prescription. In Fever & ague,
Inflammatory rheumatism, Fevers of every
description, sick head athe, heart-burn,
Dizziness in the head, pains in the chesl,
Flatulency, impaired appetite, and in eve
ry disease arising from an impurity of the
blood, or a disordered state of the stom
ach, the use of these medicines has always
proved to be beyond doubt, greatly supe
rior to any other mode of treatment.
All that Mr. Moff.il ask of his patients
is, lo be particular in taking them strictly
according lo the directions. Il is not by
a newspaper notice, or by any thing that
he himself mav say in their favor, that he
hopes to gain credit. It is alone by the
results of a fair trial. I the reader an in
valid, and does he wih to know w hether
the Life medicines will stiit his own case?
If St), let him call or send to Mr. Moffat's j
agent in this place, and procure a copy of
the Medical Manual, designed as a Domes
tic Guide to Health, published gratuitous
ly. He will there find enumerated very
many extraordinary cases of cure! and
perhaps some exactly similar lo his own.

fJpilE immense and increasing popula
rity of these pills, is another proof of
the infallibility of the old adage, that
"truth is powerful and will prevail " Oth
er pills are only puffed, but Dr. Peters' are
purchased and praised, and recommended
until the demand lor ihem has become al
most universal.
Dr. Peters would impress this fact up
on the public, lhal his pills are not a quark
medicine; but a Scientific compound of
simples, which has been the result of ma
ny years intense application to a profes
sion in which he was regularly bred;
hence it is as popular with the regular fac
ulty as with the people al largei
One ot ihe many peculiar virtues of the
Vegetable pills, is, that while very power
ful in their effects, they are particularly
mild and gentle in their action. Unlike the
generality of medicines, their application
is never attended with nausea or griping.

SOOTHING SYRUP
For children Teething,
PREPARED BY HIMSELF.
To .Mothers and jYurses.
fpHE passage of the Teeth through the
gums produces troublesome and dan
gerous symptoms. Il is known by moth
ers that there is great irritation in the
mouth and gums during this process. The
gums swell, the secretion of saliva is in
creased, the child is seized with frequent
A'ld sudden fits of crying, watchings, start
ing in the sleep, and spasms of peculiar
parts, the child shrieks with extreme vio
lence, and thrusts its fingers into its mouth.
If these precursory symptoms are not spee
dily alleviated, spasmodic convulsions uni
versally supervene, and soon cause the
dissolution of the infant. If mothers w ho
have their little babes afilicted with these

William Evans's Celebrated Soothing
Syrup, which has preserved hundreds of
infants when thought past recovery, from
being suddenly attacked with that fatal
malady, convulsions.
This infallible remedy has preserved
hundreds of Children, w hen thought past
recovery, from convulsions. As soon as
the Syrup is rubbed on the gums, the child
vill recover. This preparation is so in
nocent, so efficacious, and so pleasant, that
no child will refuse to let its gums be
rubbed with it. When infants are at the
lge of four months, though there is no ap
pearance of teeth, one bottle of the
Syrup should be used on the gums, to
open the pores. Parents should never be
without the Syrup in the nursery where
there are young children; for if a child
wakes in the night with pain in the gums,
the Syrup immediaiely gives ease by open
ing tiie pores and healing the gums; there
by preventing Convulsions, Fevers, Sec.
To the Agent of Dr. Evans' Soothing
Syrup: Dear Sir The great benefit
afforded to my suffering infant by your
Soothing Syrup, in a case of protracted
and painful dentition, must convince every
feeling parent how essential an early ap
plication of such an invaluable medicine
is to relieve infant misery and torture. Al
infant, while teething, experienced such
acute sufferings, that it was attacked with
convulsions, and my wife and family sup
posed that death would soon release the
babe from anguish till we procured a bot
tle of your Syrup; which as soon as ap
plied to the gums a wonderful change was
produced, and after a few applications the
child displayed obvious relief, and by con
tinning in its use. I am glad to inform
you, the child has completely recovered,
and no recurrence of that awful complaint
has since occurred; the teeth are emana
ting daily and the child enjoys perfect
health. I giveyou my cheerful permission
to make this acknowledgment public, and
will gladly give any information on this
circumstance.
When children begin to be in pain with
their teeth, shooting in their gums, put a
little of the Syrup in a tea-spoon, and
with the finger let the child's gums be
rubbed for two or three minutes, three
times a day. It must not be put to the
breast immediately, for the milk would
take the syrup off too soon. When the
teeth are just coming through their gums,
mothers should immediately apply the sy
rup; it will prevent the children having a
fever, and undergoing that painful opera
tion of lancing the gums, which always
makes the tooth much harder to come
through, and sometimes causes death.
