Cephas Ltjnch Shoots Son; Constable Kills the Father “Cebe” Lynch 45-year-old farmer of Cooper's Gap, serious ly wounded his 20-year-old son, Melton, Sunday afternoon about 4 o’clock when he shot him in the stomach. Lynch was drunk crazy. His son ran after being shot and was carried to Rutherford hospital where he is in a critical con dition. Constable McKinley Meltdn sent for, tried to ar rest Lynch who resisted and fired at him, it is alleged, but missed; whereupon the officer shot him; Lynch fired two more ineffective shots at officer Melton and died soon afterwards while being carried to the hospital, it is said. A coroner’s jury formed by Dr. Earl Grady acquitted officer Melton who “shot in self defense.” The jury which met in McFarland’s Funeral Home about 8 o’clock was composed of J.R.Stephenson, D.E Ballard, HJd.Thompson, Otis Dalton, Frail Dur ham. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 12 o’clock at Cane Creek. Dacidson Funeral Todau Burial services for Sidney Davidson, age 19, were held at two o’clock this afternoon at Tryon cemetery, with Rev. O. L. Robin son of the Methodist church officiating. Young Davidson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Davidson, was riding bn the running board of an automobile driven by young Carol Leonard Saturday night about 12 o’clock, when making the sharp curve Between the Scruggs place and Leonard’s store, the automobile left the concrete, it is said, at the point where the wire fence guards the curve, and young Davidson was thrown between the fence and the car where he was rolled and braised so badly that he died soon afterwards at St. Luke’s Hospital. A coroner’s jury meeting at McFarlands Sunday morning about 11 o’clock pronounced the death as the result of an unavoidable accident. The jury was composed of J. G. Monroe, Algie Wilson, John Cantrell, Hugh Turner, T. W. Ballew, J. W. Taylor. bulletin prints ICettcrljea&a No. 45
