Methodists Hear
Noted Speaker
The Mollie Morris Circle, the
Methodist Women’s Missionary
societies of Tryon, Landrum and
Saluda, held a joint meeting on
Tuesday evening at the Tryon
M,ethodist church and heard an
interesting talk from Miss Edith
Davis, returned missionary from
China. A special music program
was rendered by Mrs. N. R. Rec
tor, Mrs. Marvin Brendall, Mrs.
Joe Anderson, Mrs. U. G. Patter
son and Mjss Margie Capps. De
' otionals were led by Mrs. Hugh
Hodge of Landrum.

The Oxford orphanage singing
class will present a program in
the Tryon school auditorium on
Tuesday, July 26th, at 8 P. M.
The entertainment will be spon
sored by the local Masonic order.

Wins Beta Prize
! Miss Mary Palmer, daughter of
; Dr. and Mrs. Ml C. Palmer, and
| president of the Tryon high school
Beta club was a delegate to the
State Convention of Beta clubs at
Raleigh the past season and enter
ed a paper writing contest on the
work of the convention. A five
lollar cash prize for the best paper
written on the subject was received
by Miss Palmer on Tuesday.
