Capt. David Hedekin
Is Fatally Injured
• Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., July 20.
—Captain David D. Hedekin, 33,
of Fort MfcPherson, Atlanta, died
at the Post hospital here today
from injuries suffered in a polo
game Sunday.
Playing on the Fort McPherson
team, Captain Hedekin was thrown
from his horse during the first
chukker and was dragged a con
siderable distance. His fall in
jured his head and he never re
* covered consciousness.
Captain Hedekin was a native of
Arizona, the son of Brigadier Gen
eral and Mrs. Charles A. Hedekin
of Washington, D. C. He was
graduated from West Point in
1927 with the rank of second lieu
tenant and was promoted to cap
tain in 1937. He had been sta
tioned at Fort MicPherson four
years.
Besides his parents, he is sur
vived by his widow and a brother,
Captain Thomas B. Hedekin, of
fort Knox, Kd.—Exchange.
Captain Hedekin was well- !
known to all horse show lovers j
of this section having been a i
popular rider in the Tryon Horse
Show for a number of years. He
will be buried Friday in Arlington
National Cemetery, near Washing
ton, D. C.
Ford Infant
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. J. Ford which was born this
.morning and died shortly after
wards will be buried this after
noon at 5 o’clock in Tryon ceme
tery.

closes for the summer and opens
in October for the winter season
but increased interest i n this sec
tion has brought more guests than

Rotary to Hear
School Dean
John T. Arledge will be in
charge of the Rotary club pro
gram on Friday at 1 p. m. at
Sunnydale. The guest speaker will
be Mts. John Ashley, dean of the
exclusive Graham-Eckes school of
Daytona Beach, Fla. Her subject
will be “Private Schools.”

Rain kept us from going in
swimming at the Country club to
day, but we had a good time play
! ing indoor baseball and tennis. All
! boys are progressing nicely with
