The President Returns there was an unaccustomed gravi ty withal, and he was deadly se rious in his remarks. Os course the most important statement was that we “aren’t any nearer war.” At four o’clock the reporters left, and the Presidential party prepared to leave. There was a goodly proportion of fishing tackle, six hat boxes marked “Knox” and about 50 suit cases all of which were loaded into a car marked Main State Prison.” This caus ed some comment and conjecture among the crowd. The President wore a fawn coloured felt hat, (presumably by Knox) an off-colour brown or tan suit, a bright blue shirt which matched his light eyes, and a terrible looking blue tie that Senator Bacon would have view ed with acute distaste. “The tumult and the shouting died,” and tired and hungry we returned to recount our experienc es to the Howells, the Parmelees and the other good Tryonites who are here. As we turned into Boothbay Harbor we really felt that we were home again. “30” Polk County Superior Court opened" Monday in Columbus un der Judge Don Phillips.
