C„ THXJRS., MAY 14, 1942 COMMUNICATIONS My dear Mr. Vining, In thinking over Mr. Wash burn’s suggestion to develop a lo cal bus system, it would certain ly seem the only solution for Try ytVThe school buses I am afraid be pretty expensive to run in this way, however, as a sta tion wagon can easily be conver ted into a bus to hold ten, the required number to come under priority, as my contribution to the transportation question I suggest two routes to be covered by twojstation wagon buses. Leav ing from the post office one would go up Oak Hall, Melrose avenue, into Thousand Pines, circling the hill on which the Thousand Pines inn is located and returning to Trade street on the Melrose Ave route, .go on out the Asheville road to the Valhalla Post Office, turn and run past Harmon Field to the Tryon side of Lynn bridge, then back by Mimosa hotel branching to the left on the re turn trip past the Rogers’ en 4 "'Tice, and back to Trade street. route would take to and from the Golf course, stores, movies, and post office, all the res idents of these sections and most important to town, the hotel pop ulations of all but Pine Crest inn. The route of the other sta tion wagon I should suggest from the Post Office to the en trance of Pine Crest inn grounds, back to Trade street, out to Lynn on the Columbus road, returning past Harmon field, the Valhalla Post Office and the golf course to the Post Office. These buses might be owned and run by the pooled public ga _Continued on Back Page Concert Friday Night Here On Friday night at 8 o’clock the Tryon School Band and the High School Glee club will give a combined concert lh the High School auditorium. The band pro gram will be given first afid will last about 45 minutes. The band will be composed of around fifty members and is directed by B. I. Lands. Immediately following, the Hligh School Glee club will pre sent its concert which will last for 45 minutes. The Glee club is under the direction of L. Edwin Beach. A small admission will be charged to help provide music for the two clubs. - BAND PROGRAM The program is as follows: Genius —March; Saskatchew an — Selection; Band Played On — Novelty; Trio—Jean Derby, Carolyn Flynn, Holland Brady; Courageous — Overture; Maria Elena — Waltz; Pivot Man — March. GLEE CLUB PROGRAM God Bless America — Berlin; Bells of the Sea — Lamb-Solman; Sweet Saint Bride — Clokey; Neapolitan Nights — Kerr-Za mecnik; Mother Goose Arabesque — Turkey—‘Frances and Claudia Helms and Gelolo Iris Kell; Open Wide the Gates of Spring — For man ; Prayer of the Norwegian Child — Kountz; Winter Lullaby — DeKoven—Girls’ Glee Club; Out on the Deep — Lohr; Wait ing in the Shadows — Coombs Wellesley; Thanks Be to God — Dickson-Salter.
