are missing this morning, according

by donations from the public and
that they are an expression of
goodwill from the community to
everybody including the stranger
passing through town. Not only is
it mean and unsportsmanlike, but
it is also dangerous for boys to
steal these bulbs. . . . Donations
continue to come in to help pay
for new bulbs and the electricity
to light them. New contributions

COUNTY SEAT NEWS

The Columbus Civic Club enter
tained at a Christmas party on
Tuesday night at the Stearns school
lunch room, welcoming the new
comers to Columbus and the club
members’ husbands were guests.
The room was attractively decorat
ed with Christmas decorations and
lights and the tables were decorated
with white pine, miniature Christ
mas trees and lighted red candles.
The supper which was served
cafeteria style, consisted of chicken
salad, pickles, olives, mints, nuts,
cakes, and coffee. After which the
38 ..present enjoyed many games
and contests.
The Columbus Outlook Club held
their regular meeting Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Charley Feagan with 12 members
present. Instead of the regular pro
gram the club completed plans for
their Christmas party. The hostess
served a salad course and Russian
tea.
Mrs. Walter Lowe of Landrum
and Mrs. S. R. itarris of Tryon
were in charge of the program. Re
freshments were served to the 12
present.
Henry Bullard, who is with the
U. S. Navy, stationed at Norfolk,
Va., Pfc. Gene Blanton and Pfc.
Robert Hutcherson were week-end
guests of Pfc. Hutcherson's mother,
Mrs. John Hutcherson.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Feagan
and Rev. and Mrs. LeRoy Leppard
attended the Billy Graham speech
in Charlotte Friday night. While
there Mr. and Mrs. Feagan visit
ed Patrolman and Mrs. Tom Mel
ton.
