The Rev. Fred Barber and - family of Salisbury spent Christ mas with his brothers, Ed and Minter Barber and their families in Tryon. Mr. and Mrs. Ben White Jr., of Raleigh are arriving for New Year Holidays with Mr. and Mrs. R. B. White in Tryon. Philo Higley, the playwright of New York City, spent a few days of the holidays at his Tryon home in Gillette Woods. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Culberson have returned from a visit with their families at Kings Moun tain. MRS. HATTIE FAGAN (Mother of former Tryon school teacher, Minnie Lee Fagan). Campobello.—Mrs. Hattie Mc Mahan Fagan, 79, widow of J. M. Fagan and daughter of the late Rev. Alfred and Sanfronia Mc Dowell McMahan, died Monday afternoon at 2:10 at her home here. Mrs. Fagan had been in declin ing health for a year and seriously ill 10 days. She was a member of Campobello Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Eva Fagan of Campobello, Mrs. Minnie Lee McCloy of Lex ington, Ky., M;rs. Ethel Richards of Asheville and Miss Celeste Fa gan of Campobello; three sorts, A. O. Fagan of Atlanta, Jack Fa gan of Green Creek, N. C.; Cecil Fagan of Campobello; four grand children ; one great-grandchild; three brothers, John McMahan of Spindale, N. C., Thurman McMa han of Florida, Van McMahan of Kings Mountain, N. C.; and a sis ter,'Mrs. Dollie Withrow of For est City. Funeral services Wednesday af ternoon at 3 at Campobello Baptist Church by the Revs. Tljman Lake and W. Y. Henderson. Burial in Campobello Cemetery.
