Finalists from all 10 districts in the state will be interviewed by the Central Selection Committee in Chapel Hill Feb. 23 — 26, along with 52 nominees from 26 independent preparatory schools throughout the eastern United States. Approximately 65 awards are expected to be made for 1980. Morehead Awards provide all- expense paid undergraduate educations at UNC-Chapel Hill, currently being valued at $13,000 for four years of study. President Angell To Tour Local Nursing Homes On Wednesday, June 20, the N. C. Health Care Facilities Associ ation began a program which will involve all nursing homes in North Carolina. It is called the NCHCFA “Presidential Tour.” Throughout the year, President Don G. Angell is visiting nursing homes, where with local help, it will implement an effective program to improve the public’s knowledge of the vital and necessary health care profession. The association be lieves it is a public information program unique among nursing home associations. The two facilities in Polk County, Saluda Nursing Center and White Oak Terrace will be visited by President Angell on January 24. Both homes have invited key local officials to meet Mr. Angell and tour the facilities with him. During his visit to each home President Angell will present a certificate noting the facilities participation in the “Presidential Tour.” Each nursing center will present Mr. Angell a memento home. All gifts and mementos presented to President Angell will be collected and displayed at the 1980 North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh. After touring the facilities and the presentations he will address the residents and local officials recognizing the importance the facilities have in our local communities. Following the presentations and remarks he will say his “goodbyes” and head for the next nursing center on the tour. ICC Classes The Polk Campus of Isother mal Community College is now accepting students for the following classes: YOGA: Mrs. Delehanty will introduce you to ways that can limber you up, firm the flesh and if combined with a better diet, trim the pot. For young and old alike. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 — 2:50 p.m. Class started Jan. 17, but it is not too late to enter. FITNESS AND FIGURE CONTROL: This class with Linda Young could be called body care and repair. Diet and exercise are emphasized. First class is Monday, January 21, in Tryon.
