Tryon Daily Bulletin, Thurs., Mar. 6, 1980 Curb Reporter Continued From Page One Rhodesia, Robert Mugabe, said Tuesday he will form a racially intergrated government to lead a black-ruled and independent Rhodesia. Mugabe won a landslide victory in the parlia mentary election. Gary Towlen, pianist will be at the Fine Arts Center tonight at 8:15. Friday at 7:30 p.m. will be the tryouts for the Tryon Little Theater production of “A Shot in the Dark” at the Fine Arts Center. There are openings for 3 women and 5 men. Friday beginning at 6 p.m. the Green Creek Ruritan Club is sponsoring a Poor Man’s Supper at the Green Creek Community Building, (pinto beans, corn bread, potatoes, etc.) A variety auction will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. is the 1st annual Green Creek Music and Art Festival at the Green Creek School Auditorium. It is free to the public and is sponsored by the Polk County Arts Council. Sunday the Tryon Painters & Sculptors, Inc. present the re-scheduling of paintings of Pamela Rattray Brown in the Gallery of the Fine Arts Center. The reception will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Men’s Bridge Results of the Men’s Duplicate Bridge Tuesday night at the home of Lou Pettit were as follows: 1st. Lou Pettit and Charles Stratford, 2nd. Thomas Bradley Thomas Cubirt Bradley, 68, of Star Route, Saluda, N. C. died Tuesday. A native of Polk County, he was a son of the late Edward L. and Dora Price Bradley and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Surviving: brothers, Clarence and Moses Bradley of Saluda. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Vegter and Rev. Gary Pace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at McFar land’s Fun,eral Chapel from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Busy Night For Saluda Council The Saluda City Council had a busy meeting Monday night. The council had a number of delegations present in addition to routine business. The Council discussed the city sewer system, its problems and solutions. Council voted not to set aside an area for sledding in the event of more snow due to the objections of property owners. The Council agreed to allow the Saluda Arts and Crafts Assoc, to collect a vendors fee of $10 during the Coon Dog Festivities and have vendors selling from booths instead of on the street. A committee will be formed to coordinate the activities of Coon Dog Day and Mrs. Mildred Haywood will represent the town on the committee. The Saluda Women’s Club representatives asked that the town re-open the pavillion this summer. The Town agreed to open the pavillion if other groups would agree to supervise the operation of the recreation facility. The Firemen agreed to make payment on the fire truck which was due. The Council votea to purchase 8 trash cans to be placed at various locations in town. Council instructed the police to remove any drunks in town by taking them home if possible. The Council discussed the stray dog problem and took under advisement a number of pro posed ordinances. Guilty Pleas The Spartanburg Herald re ported the following area cases in General Sessions Court Tuesday in Spartanburg in which there were guilty pleas: Kenneth Marion Powers, 32, of Landrum Rt. 1, driving under the influence, fourth offense, four years or $3,000, suspended to one OVERLOOKING COUNTRY CLUB This is a quality built home consisting of Living Room with fireplace, separate dining, kitchen and deri upstairs.
