The Council is spear-heading the establishing of the Hearing Aid Bank for the benefit of people who can not afford the $400 price of a new hearing aid. At the present time there isn’t any place that a senior citizen can receive aid in purchasing a hearing aid. Help is available for eye-glasses but not for hearing aids. Many hearing aids will be needed in order that a specific aid will meet a specific hearing problem. The total cost to the recipient, it is hoped, will not exceed $25 for examination and ear mold plus overhaul cost of hearing aid if needed. A complete overhaul by the manufactuer is usually $50.00. This is only $75.00 compared to $400.00 for a new hearing aid. The hearing aid bank is virtually the only access low or middle income persons have to assist them in getting a hearing aid. If anyone has a hearing aid to donate, please leave at Cowan’s Super Market or The Meeting Place in Tryon; Green Creek Exxon Station or Bobby & Steve’s Grocery in Green Creek; M. A. Pace Store in Saluda; Columbus Pharmacy in Colum bus. For further information, or if you wish to apply for an aid, or have one to be picked up, telephone, Mrs. C. E. Lancaster 859-6879; Mrs. John Hansen 863-2668, Green Creek; Mrs. M. D. Kilver, 749-5011, Saluda; or the Polk County Home Economics office. 1 1 WANT TO SAVE MONEY AND GAS?
