The organi zation is working on — education, the corservation of natural resources, more and better jobs, and pride in the region. Applications are now being accepted at the Greater Hender sonville Chamber of Commerce office for the North Carolina Apple Queen Contest. Applicants must be between the ages 17 and 22, as of August 18th. Talent is not required. Judging is based on natural beauty, charm, poise and personality. The Polk County Commission ers meet today at 3 p.m. at the courthouse. The Tryon Little Theater annual picnic and annual meeting is at-5 p.m. at The Hearthstone Inn. Those interested in improving their communication^ skills should take advantage of the seminar being taught by Jim Rutledge. It is sponsored by the Tryon Methodist Men. One seminar will be held Wed. from 7 to 10 p.m. and another Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The Landrum First Baptist Church Bible School begins tonight from 6:30 to 9. Ages Preschool 3 year old to adult. Tomorrow is the Democrat Second Primary for the State Auditor nomination. I want to use my GI Bill entitlement to purchase a mobile home and a lot to put it on. But I understand I must get two separate loans at different interest rates. Is this true? A. No. Effective April 3, 1980, the loans may be combined at one interest rate. Q. May a veteran receive Veterans Administration educa tional assistance for training leading to a private pilot’s license? A. No. Educational assistance may not be provided by VA for training leading to a private pilot’s license.
