Tryon Horse Show If you didn’t show up at Harmon Field during Tryon Horse Show weekend because you knew that people would have to be insane to have a show in all that rain, well, you were only half right. Sane or otherwise, we did put on the show, and it rained buckets on Friday, torrents on Saturday. However, by Sunday, the sun was shining, courses were drying out, and morale was up, considerably. Although ribbons were well spread, local horses and riders had a good show with no less than four Championships and one Reserve going to Tryon competi tors. Val and Bruce Haynes led the way for the locals, she winning back to back tricolors in the Jumper Division with Freestyle and Equal Time, he taking the Green and Amateur Champion ships with Sunnyside. Another Tryon winner was Katherine Snyder’s After A Fashion, piloted to the Working Champ ionship by Danny Robertshaw. In addition to the Haynes family, good ribbons were also won by Gerald and Betsy Pack of Columbus, Harriet Tauber. Katherine Snyder and Sue Frischmann of Tryon, Lee Cone of Gowensville, and such well- known neighbors as Andrew- Kistler of Morganton, Ann Chester of Inman and Karen Nall and Ashlyn Jordan of Greenville.
