Awarded $500 Scholarship The Polk County Community Foundation has announced the first awardees of the John G. Landrum, Jr. Educational Fund. They are: Donna Teresa Champ ion, Sheila Painter and Don Hamilton of Polk Central High School and Virginia Althea Galda and Jenna Pace Buckner of Tryon City School. The students will receive $500 00 credited to the school of their choice to help with their first year’s tuition or other expenses. The North Carolina National Bank together with the Polk County Community and others established the John G. Landrum, Jr. Educational Fund,! which is administrated by the Tryon Polk County Community Foun dation. This educational fund is open and welcomes contributions to strengthen the educational op portunities of the county’s youth.
