Tryon Daily Bulletin, Tues., June VOTING EXPECTED TO BE RECORD-BREAKER Is voter apathy ending in 1980? Statistics indicate that for whatever the reasons, voters will be heading for the ballot box in record numbers during this election year. Votes cast in presidential primaries and cau cuses around the country have increased three to five times the participation in 1976. On November 2, 1980, all 435 members of the House of Representatives, except for those who have announced their retirement, are up for re-elec tion. In the Senate, 34 members will be up for re-election. Your one vote may make the difference. In 1645 — ONE VOTE gave Oliver Cromwell control of England. In 1649 — ONE VOTE, caused Charles I of England to be executed. In 1776 — ONE VOTE gave America the English language instead of German. In 1839 — ONE VOTE elected Marcus Morton Governor of Massachusetts. In 1845 — ONE VOTE saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment. In 1876 — ONE VOTE gave Rutherford D. Hayes the Presi dency of the United States. In 1876 —- ONE VOTE changed France from a monarchy to a republic. In 1923 - ONE VOTE gave Adolph Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party. — Army Echoes.
