June 10, 1980 Tryon Daily Bulletin, Tues. Died Saturday Mrs. David S. Bunch Mrs. Grace McCarthy Bunch, 76, wife of David S. Bunch of Mockingbird Hill, died Saturday at 3 a.m. in Memorial Mission Hospital in Asehvillc. A native of Brookline, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William F. McCarthy. She had made her home here for the past 17 years. In 1953-56 she was president of the Huntington Hospital Board of 1954-62 she was a member of the Huntington Hospital Board of Directors; in 1963 she was awarded honorary life member ship in the Huntington Hospital Auxiliary. In 1958 she was president of the Huntington Chapter Multiple Sclerosis Soc iety and in 1968 received exceptional service award for her work in the Nassau-Suffolks Council of Hospital Auxiliary. In Tryon she was chairman of the Tryon-Polk County Republi can Women's Club and 1968 she was chairman of the Polk County Republican Party. She served as Secretary of Roseland Commun ity Center and in 1977 and 1979 she was president of the Tryon Garden Club. She was President of the Polk County Protection Animal Society and was active in the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club and the Tryon Hounds. In May of 1978 she along with her husband were elected to the Second Wind Hall of Fame, sponsored by Roseland Community Center Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in McFarland Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John D. Smith officiating. Burial was in Elm wood Cemetery in Columbia, S. C. at 1:30 p.m. Memorials should be made to Roseland Community Center or to the Polk County Animal Protection Society. New Arrivals Mr. and Mrs. John Douglas of Tryon are parents of a daughter, Keisha Janine, born June 3rd at St. Luke’s Hospital. The grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Hartford Douglas of Tryon and Mr. and Mrs. George Kirkland of Detroit, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Levi of Tryon are parents of a son, Brian McKinley, born June 4th at St. Luke’s Hospital. The paternal grandmother is Mrs. Talmadge Levi of Columbus and the maternal grandmother is Mrs. Tollie Ross of Tryon. Horace Sain Horace Edward "Doc” Sain, 36, of 11 Rector St., Tryon, died Friday. Born in Henderson County, he was the son of Walter S. Sain of Mill Spring and the late Mae Walker Sain. He was owner and operator of Doc’s Lounge and former member of Polk County Jaycees. He also served in the U. S. Army. Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Evelyn Beacock Sain: a daughter, Peggy Sain of the home; three sisters, Geraldine Tucker of Asheville, Yvonne Wilson of Hampton, S. C., and Linda Walker of Newberry, S. C.; and two brothers, Wade Sain of Columbus and Don Sain of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Silver Creek Baptist Church. The Revs. David Brooks and 0. Lee Gregory officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. McFarland Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
