Dean Butler, Realty was the broker. Dr. Broach is a native of Monroe, Ga. He was educated in the public schools of Athens, Ga., received his B.A. from the University of Georgia and Th.M., Th.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was pastor of Covington Baptist Church, Covington, Va. 1940-42; Associate Secretary, Department of Student Work, Southern Baptist Convention, 1942-44 and was Senior Minister of St. John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte from 1944-74. From 1974-1980 he served as director of the Ecumenical Institute, a project in Human Understand ing, jointly sponsored by Wake Forest University (Baptist) and Belmont Abbey College (Catho lic). He is the author of "Dr. Mrs. J. Sears McGee, Santa Barbara, Calif, and Claude U. Broach, Jr. of of Asheville. Mrs. Broach, a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, was one of the organizers of The Parents’ League in Charlotte and was active in church school educa tion. She works with her husband in organizing and conducting private tours aboard. She was active on the Crittendon Board and had long service on the YWCA Board, including service during planning and construction of the new YWCA building.
