Tryon Daily Bulletin, Erl., Aug. 22,19X0 To Study Pablo Picasso Isothermal Community College is offering a special course to study Pablo Picasso. The group will be limited to ten persons who will fly to New York for three days, September 29 through October 1, to attend the last day of the most comprehensive exhibition of Picasso's art ever mounted It is also the first time that The Museum of Modern Art has ever donated all three floors of its present gallery space to the work of one artist. The exhibition will afford the viewer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience at first hand the full scope of Picasso's genius. Included will be some 1,000 works by this remarkably versatile modern master whose work is central to an understanding of 20th century art. All mediums in which Picasso worked, painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, theater and costume design will be represented Approximately one-third of the exhibition will consist of works, which Picasso kept for himself, many of which were rarely if ever exhibited publicly during the artist's long life. Prior to going to New York to see the Picasso show, which is one of the largest and most important are displays of our time, the group will meet with ICC instructor Raleigh Biggerstaff to discuss the artist's life, works and view some audio visual material. The cost will be $319 00 per person, double occupancy. This includes transportation to and from airports, round trip air fare to New York, two nights at the Sheraton City Squire Hotel (51st Street at 7th Avenue), tickets to Picasso exhibit and one night at the theater.
