Sunny View is the only school in Polk County without a gymnasium and has needed one for years. The Ruritan Club is getting the ball started, maybe with the amount they can raise the County can gel enough capital outlay money to put up a building for the children. They need a place they can exercise and play during bad weather. Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Tryon Crafts, Inc. will present a unique working demonstration of the various crafts it sponsors. Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. is the 25th anniversary and second annual Dinner-Dance of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in the parish house of the Holy Cross Church. After the presentation of the entire court, Captains Walter Mize and Juergen Panoscha will crown Miss Tiger and Miss Homecoming 1980. Miss Tiger will be selected from the court by the 1980 football team while Miss Homecoming will be chosen from among the four senior attendants by a plurality vote of the student body. NORTH-SOUTH BRIDGE Results of the North-South Duplicate Bridge Monday night at the home of Gene Hempel were as follows: 1st. Rocky Blanchard and Howard Olson, 2nd. Harvey Deobald and Grenville Sewall, 3rd. Walter Culin and Al Daniel. The next game will be Oct. 6th at Howard Olson's. TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM FOR POLK COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1,1980 tn an effort to improve transportation services to Senior Citizens of Polk County, a new transportation program will begin operation October 1st. Transportation will be available for important trips such as doctor and dental appointments, and to grocery or drug stores. This can only be arranged with a 48 hour notice. Senior Citizens can call 48 hours in advance or personally contact Fran Williams at The Meeting Place 48 hours in advance for this service. We regret that the new program will not provide transportation assistance for Senior Citizens to attend church although some assistance may be arranged for Saturday mornings and Thursdays evenings. Calls from Saluda and Sunny View can be made collect. There is no fee for this service. Requests are to be coordinated through a central telephone service at The Meeting Place. The number to call for 48 hour in advance service is 859-5411. Calls will be taken from 9:00 a.m. till 4 00 p.m at The Meeting Place, Monday thru Friday. No emergency services are available in this new program, but in case there is a need for emergency transportation Senior Citizens may call 859-5560. adv. 24,25,26,c.. They visited friends in Winchester, Kentucky who they had not seen for a number of years; a friend in a nursing home in Winchester, Ky. In Jeffersontown they visited Mrs. Mildred Bruce and attended the 11th Gas O’Lite Festival which lasted three days. Many arts and crafts were on sale and the circus was in town.
