Polk Central Battles To Tie The Polk Central Patriots battled Mt. Heritage to a 14-14 tie Friday night at Polk Central. The Patriots scored in the first quarter on a 30-yard pass play from QB Ritky Nelon to Jeff Wilson. Scott Arledge added the placement to make it 7-0. The Patriots scored again in the second quarter on a 2-yard run by Mark Skipper. Arledge again added the placement to make it 14-0. Mt. Heritage came back in the fourth quarter to tie the game. The first score came on an 80- yard pass play from Travis Swod to Dave McRee. but the conversion failed and it was 14-6. Later in the period Charlie Carroway scored on an 8-yard run and then ran the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 14- 14. Coach Ken Brumley felt that Polk Central played a good game. He thought that the defensive play of Scott Arledge at halfback, Thad Davis at outside linebacker, Milt Simpson at end and Robert Lynch at middle linebacker were outstanding. Coach Brumley felt that Ricky Nelon had a good game at QB and that Mark Skipper ran hard. The entire offensive line did a better job blocking according to Coach Brumley. The Patriots are now 1-3-1 and open their conference schedule Thursday at NCSD. Mt. Heritage Polk Central 0 0 0 14 - 14 7 7 0 0-14 First Downs M.H.
