Mr. and Mrs. Charles Covil of Paint 'n Paper, Etc. in Landrum recently returned from a trip to Ireland with 100 other Southeastern floorcovering retailers The trip which the Covils won by achieving high volume sales with both Mohawk Carpet and Congoleum Floorcovering lines, was sponsored by Allison-Erwin Distributors, Co. a Charlotte based firm. Horton-Horne Marriage vows were exchanged by Miss Debra Horton and Steven Lee Horne in a 6 p.m. Friday wedding at First Baptist Church in Landrum Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F Horton, the bride works at Holmberg Electronics Corporation in Inman she was graduated from Landrum High School. Mr Horne, son of Mrs. Arthur E Stanley of Green Creek and Cecil Horne, works at Cecil Horne Construction Company. He was graduated from Polk Central High School The bride had her sister, Donna Sue, as maid of honor. The bridegroom had his brother. Ricky as best man. His brother, Roger and the bride’s brother, Barry ushered. Child attendants were the bride’s niece and nephew, Autumn Horton and Erik Horton, as flower girl and ring bearer. The Rev. C. W. Farrer performed the ceremony which was followed by a church reception. Mrs. Jessie Wingo Mrs. Jessie Mae Gary Wingo, 53 of Oak Circle Drive, Forest City, widow of Nathaniel Wingo, diedSaturday. She was a native of Hoik County Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Betty Gary, Mrs. Naomi Palmer, Mrs. Lila Baxter, Mrs Rosemary Palmer and Mrs. Janet Lynch of Forest City; sons. Charles Wingo of Ohio, Hawthorne Wingo of Italy, McDonald Wingo of Forest City and James Wingo of Brooklyn, N.Y; 28 grandchildren. The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Palmer of Oak Circle Drive, Forest City. Cannon and Sons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Man Killed In Wreck A 21-year-old instantly early the truck he man was killed Saturday when was riding in overturned on Old County Line Road south of Rutherfordton, the highway patrol reported. Trooper J. H. Smart identified the man as Douglas Franklin Oates of Rutherfordton. Smart said the wreck occured about five minutes after midnight when a 1968 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by David Alan Scoggins, 20, of Rutherfordton went out of control in a curve, went off the right side of the road, hit a bank and turned over on its roof. Oates, who was riding in the right passenger seat, was partially thrown from the truck cab and crushed under the truck roof, the trooper said. Scoggins and another passenger, Donny Hodge, 21, of Rutherfordton were not injured in the wreck 7.1 miles south of Rutherfordton.
