Tuesday, promising “an era of
national renewal" at home and
restraint but never surrender
abroad.
As Jimmy Carter gave up the
presidency, Iran yielded the
captives it had held for 444 days.
The celebration of Reagan, the
parade, pageantry, etc. became a
celebration of their freedom, too.
Former President Carter
returned h me to Plains, Ga.
Tuesday to cheering friends and
neighbors.
The redistribution of the Tryon
ABC Store profits to increase
the Harmon Field portion from
10% to 30% seems a good way to
give Harmon Field some more
money and not increase the
special Tryon Township tax for
its support. Harmon Field is a
credit to this area and is used for
many activities by people from a
wide area. The Harmon Field
Commission has asked the Town
of Tryon to have a special bill
introduced in the Legislature

Friday night at the Landrum
High School Fall Sports Banquet.

Meeting Jan. 27
The Tryon Country Club annual
dinner meeting will be held for
members and associate
members at the Hearthstone Inn,
Tuesday, January 27th
Brief reports of the Club’s
progress and tournament award
winners for the year will be
presented. Three new Board
Members will be elected to
replace retiring President Bob
Gibbs, Financial Chairman
Larry Pexton, and House
Chairman Bob Creswell.
Following a short business
meeting after dinner, a film
covering the 1980 Masters
Tournament will be shown.
A social hour to get acquainted
with new members will start at
6:00 p.m., with dinner being
served at 7:00 p.m. Brown
bagging is the custom with set
ups and ice being provided.

Carolina doggers
Rescheduled
The Carolina Cloggers from
Canton were unable to appear in
Cdlumbus on Tuesday evening
due to icy weather conditions in
the mountains. Weather
permitting, they will be at
Stearns School Tuesday, Jan. 27
at 7:30 p.m. to give clogging
lessons. Call the Polk County
Community Schools Office for
information: 894-3905.
A Need For
Foster Parents
There is a great need in Polk
County for foster parents who are
interested in working with young
people, ages 13—18 Both
emergency and regular foster
homes are needed.
All interested persons may call
the Polk County Department of
Social Services, Monday, through
Friday between 8:30 a.m and 5
p.m.
Executive Committee
Of WNCHSA Meets
The Executive Committee of
the Western North Carolina
Health Systems Agency will meet
on Thursday, January 29 at 7:30
p.m in the Asheville Mall's S&W
Cafeteria in Asheville, North
Carolina.
Executive Committee
members will also review the
Agency's Application for
Renewal of Full Designation for
the funding year. May 1, 1981 —
April 30, 1982 before its
submission to the Governor and
DHHS regional offices. The
WNCHSA has been fully designed
since 1976.
The WNCHSA, with offices in
Morganton, is responsible for
health planning in 26 western N.
Carolina counties in order to
increase the accessibility and
acceptability of local health care
services and retard medical cost
increases by preventing
duplication and waste.
All meetings are open to the
public and interested persons are
invited to attend
