He worked for belter schools in Henderson County and Hendersonville and was a past member of the school board. He was a former president of the Hendersonville Kiwanis Club and one of the founders of the Second Wind Hall of Fame Award. He worked for the betterment of Henderson County and was active in civic affairs. He was a brother of Mrs K. A. Bowen of Tryon. S. history to be elected governor without following her husband into office, died Thursday night of Continued On Back Page Two Arrested Two youths were arrested Thursday afternoon for breaking and entering Camp Skyuka on Skyuka Mtn. Sheriff Boyce Carswell said that Camp Director Henry Meares was across the lake cutting wood, when he heard glass being broken at the camp. He got in his truck and started toward the camp The youths hearing the truck coming took off in their car and after two curves down the mountain lost control of their car which went into a ditch. Mr. Meares notified the Sheriff's Dept, and the youths were picked up at their car. Arrested were Matthew Schaper, 17, of Spartanburg and Joel Gibson Snead, 16. of Spartanburg They were charged with breaking and entering, damage to personal property and contributing to the delinquency of a minor They did about $600 damage to the buildings by breaking out windows and smashing doors. They were released on $500 bond each. Suing State A Campobello woman who watched her daughter die under the wheels of a school bus has filed a suit against the state of Department of Education, saying she suffered emotional harm from the incident The suit, filed in Spartanburg County Court of Common Pleas, said Joyce W. Lawson "lives in a constant state of nervous tension." It asks for a jury trial, actual damages and legal costs. Swayze. 24, of North Miami, Fla. and Elizabeth Brehm. 23, of Hallandale, Fla. were arrested Thursday afternoon by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and charged with breaking and entering and larceny. Sheriff Boyce Carswell reported that he got a call from a lady who reported a suspicious car with Florida tags in the middle of the road on V.’arrior Drive with a woman in it. The Sheriff sent a deputy to investigate and when he arrived, the woman had picked up a man on Long Branch Road The car was stopped and Elizabeth Brehm was charged with driving without a license and taken to Columbus where the car was searched Over $3,000 worth of silver, etc. had been taken from the home of Dr and Mrs Paul H.
