We didn’t hear anyone complain about the rain. It had been a long time between rains. The biggest storm of the winter swept from the Rockies to the eastern Great Lakes bringing blinding snow and bone-chilling cold. North Carolina labor leader Wilbur Hobby and two associates were indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday in Raleigh on charges of fraud in the handling of federal job-training funds. Indicted with Hobby were Robert L. Hughes, Jr., 37, special projects coordinator for the state’s Natural Resources and Community Development and Mort Levi, 49, former program director for Precision Graphics, Inc., a Raleigh printing company operated by Hobby. Everyone is invited. Tryon PTA Meets Tonight The Tryon PTA will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Tryon High School Library. Gospel Sing at Mill Spring The Sunny View Ruritan Club is sponsoring a Gospel Sing Friday, Feb. 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the Mill Spring School. Groups to be present are Lamar Sego Family of Macon, Ga.; The Ruppe Singers of Landrum, S C. and the Coopers Gap Quartet.
