Tryon Daily Bulletin, Mon.. Mar. 23,1981 Investing An advanced course in investing will be offered by the Polk County Campus of Isothermal Community College. The six session course will start Monday, March 23 in Tryon. The classes will be held each Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. in the Jervey-Palmer Building. Tuition will be $3.25 for NC residents. Students may audit or receive one hour credit by calling 859-5868 for an application. The course will be taught by Robert M. Tobey. Vice President. Resident Manager, of A. G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. Subjects covered will include (1) Market Timing (when to buy and when to sell) on both a fundamental and technical basis (2) Charting — how to chart. How to interpret charts and other technical indicators. (3) Options — specifics on how to use puts and calls on a conservative and a speculative basis. Tax shelter investing will also be covered in detail including real estate, oil and gas, equipment leasing, tax deferred annuities (fixed & variable), IRA & Keogh accounts. Portfolio management will also discussed. be Aerobic Dancing The Polk County Agricultural Extension Service is sponsoring a new Aerobic Dance Program to be taught by Lois Wolters who has completed a course in the Jacki Sorensen method of teaching. Jacki is the originator of Aerobic Dancing and has served on the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The course, open to men and women, will meet three times a week for four weeks beginning April 1. Classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 The classes combine aerobic exercises and muscle-toning dance movements with concentration on strengthening the cardiovascular system. Exercises in this program are designed with physical fitness in mind. Persons who suspect or are aware of coronary conditions or other physical deficiencies should consult a physician before undertaking any exercise program. . Registration will be held on March 30 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the conference room of the Polk County Agriculture Building in Columbus. There will be a S5. charge per person for the course. Furniture Refinishing A furniture refinishing workshop will be held at the 4-H Center in Columbus on April 6, 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jackie Henson, Home Economics Extension Agent, will conduct the workshop. Participants should bring and work on one piece of furniture. Refinishing techniques and care of furniture will be demonstrated. The strip method using a penetrating sealer will be taught. Other methods will be discussed and used if appropriate for the furniture. Anyone interested may attend. Register by calling 894- 8218. WINTERIZATION WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM SPONSORED BY POLK COUNTY Is now taking applications from low income homeowners 60 or over and low income disabled homeowners of any age. Energy saving improvements will be made to your home at no cost.
