A large crowd is expected for
the Steeplechase tomorrow The
first race begins at 2 p m but
most people go out much earlier
and enjoy a picnic.

profits The new redistribution
will be 70% to the Town of Tryon
and 30% for Harmon Field to be
used for its maintenance,
operation and capital
improvement

6th at 7 p m. in the Tryon ABC

Shotgun Start
On Tuesday, March 31st the
Tryon Country Club Ladies Golf
Assn, met for Fun Day with a
shotgun start at 9:30 a m and the
regular luncheon followed the
play
The winners were: Class A,
Inky Cloud; Class B, Bern
Perrottet, Class C, Margaret
Pexton; Class D, Helen Lewis.
A New Arrival
The Rev. and Mrs. Jim
Richardson of 3316 Pleasant
Plaines Road, Matthews, N. C.
are parents of a son, Paul
Furman, born April 1st at
Presbyterian Hospital in
Charlotte. He has two brothers,
Michael, age 5 and David age 3.
Mr Richardson is a former
pastor of the Tryon First Baptist
Church. While Mrs. Richardson
and her young son are in the
hospital. Michael and David are
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Hubert
Williams in Tryon
Awarded Scholarship
DANVILLE, Ky - Catherine
Davis has been named the
recipient of the Albert A. and N.
Bruce Brennan Scholarship for
the 1980-81 academic year at
Centre College of Kentucky.
The Albert A and N. Bruce
Brennan Scholarship was
endowed under the will of May
Brennan Washington in memory
of her brothers
Ms Davis is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs Seth R. Davis of Rt.
2. Mill Spring. N. C. and is a
senior at Centre While at Centre,
she has been a pitcher for the
women's softball team for three
years, sweetheart for Phi Delta
Theta fraternity, and is a
member of Kappa Alpha Theta
sorority.
Mr and Mrs David
Whitehouse and son. Matthew, of
Indianapolis, Ind are visiting Dr
and Mrs. Jerry Dorsam of
Columbus. Mrs. Whitehouse and
Mrs Dorsam are sisters.
Tryon Day
Is April llth
Saturday. April llth, Tryon will
celebrate Tryon Day. As an
observance, the dedication of the
downtown garden area will be
made, and volunteers will be
giving free tours of our
community with narrators
including information on some of
our special gardens, hunting
country, and local estates.
Among those places included on
the tour will be Dr. Theodore
Rozema's Paso Fino ranch.
There will be three tours, about
45 minutes in length.
Arts and crafts by some of our
local artists and sculptors will be
on display, some for sale. If you
would like to display your works
call for free space reservation.

Tryon Day is an all day event
and will conclude at 8 p m. with a
street dance for the younger
citizens.
This will be the largest
celebration in Tryon's history . . .
and everyone is invited to come
