The municipalities and the county governments are faced with making their budgets for 1981-82. With inflation, just staying even means more money because everything costs more. The Tryon High School graduation is Friday at 8 p.m. at the football field. District 1 Board Approves Budget The District One School Board approved the 1981-82 budget Tuesday, which will be presented to the Spartanburg County School Board June 16. The new budget increased from $5,309,170 to $5,978,651. Property evaluation dropped from $13,574,222 to $13,465,811. To finance its renovation of Chapman High School, the Board sold $600,000 in bonds May 26 at 10.17 percent interest rate. The board will receive bids June 18 at 3 p.m , bids in the district office conference room for the renovation room. — Spartanburg Herald Lake Lure Lions The 2nd Anniversary Dinner Meeting of The Lake Lure Lions was held at Scoggin's Fish and Steak House Thursday, May 28 th. President Frederick Wescoe presented Life Membership Certificates to Lions Jack F. Bigerstaff, Robert Anthony, Roy G. Chapman. President Frederick Wescoe was also a recipient of a Life Certificate. Also presented were Certificates of Appreciation to Lions Frank C. Anderson, Claud R. Nelon, Archie L. Queen and Kurt Muller. The next Board of Directors Meeting will be on June 10th at 11:30 a m, at The Duck Cedar Inn. The regular meeting will be Thursday, June 11th at 7:30 p.m. at The Lake Lure Golf Club Is Accredited White Oak Terrace. Tryon. N. C., has been awarded a Certificate of Accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals (JCAH). Doris G. Cole, chief executive officer said White Oak Terrace was evaluated during an on-site visit by a team of JCAH surveyors who conferred with the professional staff. Accreditation means that White Oak Terrace has voluntarily sought to be measured against the JCAH s national standards. The accreditation program assists facilities in pursuing high quality health care through education, evaluation and consultation. JCAH accreditation is professional, national recognition. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals is a private, not-for-profit organization created by and composed of health care professionals. It is governed by representatives from the American College of Surgeons, American College of Physicians, American Dental Association, American Hospital Association and American Medical Association. Moves Here Mrs. Kelvin Nutting of Castine, Maine has moved into the former Sue Kell house on Walnut Street in Tryon. Her brother, Louis G. Carmick lives in Landrum. Her husband, the late Capt. Kelvin Nutting, U.S. Navy, was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy. She has two daughters, Elizabeth Noyes, whose husband, Atherton Noyes is with the U. S. State Department in Oslo, Norway and Julia Green, whose husband, Major Thomas Green is stationed in Germany. Mrs. Nutting enjoys needlework and making quilts. Gabriel and Katarina Ludwig, granddaughters of Earl Riber of Columbus were named to the honor roll at Spartanburg Day School.
