Wm. C. Eplee William C. Eplee, 89, of Rt. 4, Rutherfordton died Tuesday at Rutherford Hospital after a long illness. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Henry and Lector Wilson Eplee. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and was a member of Green River Baptist Church Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Mae Lyles Eplee of the home; four daughters, Mrs Edith Greenway of Columbus; Mrs. Ruby Dixon, Mrs. Carolyn Earley and Mrs. Barbara Dobbins, all of Forest City; a brother, Frank Eplee of Spindale; three sisters. Mrs. Mattie Crawford of Union Mills, Miss Adell Eplee and Mrs. Mittie Crawford, both of Spindale; 13 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Services will be held today (Thurs.) at 2 p.m. at the Green River Baptist Church with the Rev. Boyce Bradshaw and Rev. Mike Lineberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Crowe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. THANK YOU I would like to extend a big thank you to those who contributed to the N. C. Recreation Program Begins June 15th The Tryon Boosters Club sponsored Summer Recreation program at Harmon field will begin June 15th andcontinueuntil August 1st. The program will be conducted Monday through Friday from 9 a m to 5 p.m. Henry Meares will direct the program and he will be assisted by two high school students. Activities planned for the summer include swimming lessons, water ski lessons. archery, arts and crafts, whittling, volleyball, softball, basketball and horse shoes. At least two teenage dances will be held during the summer. The program is open to all boys and girls ages 6 through 16. The exact schedule of activities will appear in the paper as they come available. RED FOX BRIDGE Winners of the Ladies Bridge at Red Fox Country Club Tuesday were as follows: 1st. Mrs. Ross Pierce, 2nd. Miss Jane Brown, 3rd Mrs Randolph Walker. Fine Arts Center Officers Elected At the final meeting of the year of the Tryon Fine Arts Center Board of Directors on June 1, John Landrum. Jr., was elected President for his third term. New Board members Alien D. Slater and Davis Kirby were elected Vice President and Treas. Mary Reese was named Secretary of the Board. Former House Committee Chairman John Young was named a new Director, while Gus Hoffman. Elenor Fardig and Jack Wheaton retire from Board this year. MEN S BRIDGE Results of the match played by the Tryon Men's Bridge Club on June 2 were as follows: 1st. Lou Pettit with R.B. Scruggs; 2nd. Russ Gratner with Fred Chevalier; 3rd., Boyd Dunbar with George Kelly. This concludes the spring series which was won by 1st. Lou Pettit; 2nd., Ed Delehanty; 3rd., Boyd Dunbar.
