The Landrum Volunteer Firemen will have a family covered dish supper Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the fire house. Part of the front wall at the new shopping center in Landrum went down under the high winds late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Polk School Board Meets Monday The Polk County School Board will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Agriculture Extension Conference Room in the courthouse annex in Columbus. Louise Payton W.M., Betty Thompson, Sec. “ Jaws Of Life” Used Tuesday The Polk County Rescue Squad was called out Tuesday about 2:15 p.m. to help get Mrs. Jean Reich from her car. Mrs. Reich's car went off the road on Meadowlark Drive near the home of Mrs. Zirk and the Polk County Ambulance crew was unable to get Mrs. Reich out of the car as the doors were jammed and wouldn't open Nick Culbreth of the Polk County Rescue Squad said that with the use of the “jaws of live" the Rescue Squad members were able to open the door. Mrs. Reich was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where she was admitted. Her condition was reported as good Wednesday morning. Bible School At St. Luke C.M.E. Tryon School Board Meets Monday At 7:30 The Tryon City Board of Education will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Superintendent's office at the high school. Godshaw Hill To Organize Charles H. Hollweg, acting President, has announced that the residents of the Godshaw Hill area have formed a neighborhood Assn. Forty of the area residents met recently at the Tryon United Methodist Church and formed a temporary organization. Election of permanent officers and board of directors will take place at the next meeting. The purpose of the Association is to represent the interests of the residents of the area relative primarily to civic matters. On Dean’s List David Burrell, son of Mr and Mrs. Lee Burrell of Rt. 2, Columbus was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring Semester at USC at Spartanburg. A graduate of Polk Central High School he is a Business Management major. You must make at least a 3.5 to be on the Dean’s List at USC at Spartanburg. He has been nominated to receive honorary award recognition by having his biography published in the next edition of The National Dean’s List.
