Columbus Mayor, Ted Owens
has announced that the ban has
been lifted against the washing of
your car or lawn. Mayor Owens
said that he still encouraged
people on the Columbus Water
System to practice conservation
but that the recent rain had eased
the water situation.
The Rutherfordton Little
League team which won the Area
1 playoffs, lost to Belmont 14 to 4
in the District finals at
Cherryville. Belmont now
advances to the first round of
State Play offs with a game
against the District Five
(Asheville area) winner of
August 3rd at Rutherfordton
Crestview Park.
"The King and I” continues
tonight and Saturday at 8 o’clock
at the Fine Arts Center. Every
one who has seen it gives it lots of
praise and say that the children
are outstanding.

Win Heart Tourney
The Heart Tennis Doubles
Round Robin Tournament was
held Wednesday at Red Fox
Country Club Digit Laughridge
and Lee Haslam won the event
with 22 games. Mark Boyles and
Jerry Rollins were second with 21
and David Vining and Scott Wray
were third with 17.
Food Stamps
Complaint System
A new complaint system has
been implemented effective
07/01/81 at the State Level to
handle complaints such as delays
in processing applications or
general services to Food Stamp
Applicants/Recipients.
When a complaint is reported
to the state office, the Complaints
officer will ensure that it is
studied. resolved in an
appropriate manner, corrective
action is taken if warranted and
that the client is informed of the
results within 90 days.
Complaints are routed to the
Food Assistance Section, 325 N.
Salisbury Street. Raleigh, North
Carolina.
Buy Paff Home
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Replogle
of Hilton Head, S. C. have
purchased the home of Dr. and
Mrs. David Paff on Hearthstone
Ridge. Dr. and Mrs. Paff will
leave in September for a year in
France with two of their children,
Andy and Heidi.
The Replogles will move here
in September.
Upon retiring to the States, the
Paffs plan to build a home on land
they have recently purchased in
Huntingwood.
The transactions were handled
by Robert Thompson, Kay Price
and Earl Thompson of Town &
Country-Knoblock Realty.
Six Boy Scouts
To Attend
National Jamboree
Six Boys Scouts from Troop
150, Tryon, will attend the
National Boy Scout Jamboree to
be held at Fort A P. Hill near
Fredericksburg, Va. Making the
trip will be Mark Campbell,
Charles Carpenter, Mike Frazier'
Chuck Lynch, Jeff Page and Alex
Trumble. They will leave on
Sunday from Gastonia and will
return on August sth.

Meet Today
The Democratic Women of
Polk County will meet Monday at
3 p.m at the courthouse in
Columbus.

In The World
Dr. Kerrison Juniper, Jr.,
physician and educator of
Edinburg, Ill. is listed in the 1980-
81 edition of “Who’s Who in the
World".
Dr. Juniper is professor of
medicine, chief gastroenterology
division, Southern Illinois
University School of Medicine at
Springfield. He has done much
research and written many
articles on gastroenterology,
liver diseases, infectious and
parasitic Diseases of the
Intestine, etc. He has also taught
at Boston University and
University of Arkansas Medical
Center. He was a visiting
