Building Up In Town Of Tryon The Town of Tryon has issued $1,046,717.00 in building permits since January 1981. This breaks down to $714.793 00 in new construction and $331,924.00 in remodeling and additions This is the highest total in building permits in over ten years Girl Scout Goal Is $3800 For Polk A luncheon for the 1981-82 Sustaining Membership Enrollment Fund Drive was held at Mrs. Lydia Clontz's home on August 19th at 12 noon. Those attending were Mrs. Jo Key. Mrs Gay Lankford. Mrs Carol McCall, Mrs. Polly Wight. Mrs Alice Palmer. Mrs Ailene Page. Mrs Frances Smith. Mrs Ruth Ann Arledge and Bill Roff The Pisgah Council Fund Development Director. Ms. Mathilda Doughton was also present. The fund goal is $3800 for Polk County. The Girl Scouts will use the donated funds to supplement income from cookie sales and United Way contributions to the council. The $3 dues contributed by the girls go to the national headquarters for registration and insurance of the girl when on Girl Scout functions. AUG. 25,1981 Communication Congratulations to the Upstairs Players fot their delightful and innovative presentation of Midsummer Night's Dream, which they gave in four different localities in this area. I saw it in the Tryon Fine Arts Center's Farwell Garden and a lovelier backdrop of trees, mountains, and evening sky would be hard to find I'm sure Shakespeare himself whould have approved of the rollicking production, enjoyed and applauded it as did the enthusiastic audience. Lori Foster, Debra Corbett and Frances Metcalf have returned to their homes in Tryon after five days in Daytona Beach, Fla Price 10c Per Copy O’Neal Takes Out Warrants For Bobby Joe Stott Mike O'Neal, editor of the Thermal Belt News Journal took out two warrants Friday morning for Bobby Joe Stott, Tryon businessman. O'Neal charged Stott with Communicating a Threat and with Trespassing. Getting Better Alan Peoples was the lone runner of the Polk County Stridors who participated in the Great Nature Stampede at the W. N. C. Nature Center in Asheville Sunday. Mr. Peoples ran the 3.1 mile event in 22:03 and was 29th overall.
