Steeplechase
On TV Sunday
Video Group, Inc., Greenville
will film the Block House
Steeplechase Saturday and it will
be shown Sunday at 1:30 on
WFBC-TV Chn. 4.
Duke Power Files
For Rate Increase
Duke Power Co. has filed a
request for an 11.85 percent retail
rate increase in North Carolina.
If approved by the N. C. Utilities
Commission, it would increase
the company’s retail operating
revenues in the state by $165.3
million. The increase requested
will not show up on bills before
October.
The N. C. Utilities Commission
approved a 14.99 percent rate
increase for Duke Power on Dec.
17th.
The company also has a rate
case pending in South Carolina.

41 Horses Entered
In Races Saturday
Forty-one horses have been
entered in the five Block House
Races Saturday. Only seven of
these horses are cross-entered
with the Atlanta Race. Assuming
there are some scratches, and
that some of the 7 cross-entered
horses will come to Tryon there
will be between 30 and 35 horses
running Saturday. This should
mean that there will be 6 to 7
horses in each race.
Last vear’s Block House
winner, Un Adios, who won by 15
lengths, is one of the entries.
