Read The Ballets For Local News Spring, 1990 RABIES CLINIC During May of this year, Polk County veterinarians will be working in co-operation with the Polk County Health Department in conducting RABIES CLINICS in Polk County. These clinics are being held in order to allow all dog and cat owners to have their pet vaccinated, conveniently. North Carolina State Law requires that all CATS and DOGS 4 months old or older be immunized for RABIES The first vaccination is effective ("good”) for 1 year. Booster vaccines are effective ("good''* for 3 vears if given ON TIME and kept UP-TO-DATE The RABIES CLINICS will be held in all areas of Polk County The COST of vaccines at the Rabies Clinics is $5.00 We request that those pet owners attending RABIES CLINICS properly restrain and control their pets. Dogs should be on a leash. Cats should be kept in a carrier or box or kept in cars until the time of their vaccination. All dog and cat owners whose pets are not currently vaccinated for RABIES are encouraged to take advantage of the spring clinics. The new house is located on Spivey Creek Road on the south side of Landrum, 4 mile west of Hwy. 176 President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter have been invited to be the speakers for the occasion, according to Jim Jackson, Chairman of the dedication On Friday. May 18th the annual fund raising letter for Thermal Belt Habitat will be mailed. Monday. May 21 at 7:30 p m. the public is invited to a Habitat Birthday Celebration in the auditorium of our new Polk County Campus of Isothermal Community Campus on Highway 108 in Columbus There will be a video show. "The Excitement is Building." which tells the story of love, partnership, sore muscles, and joy during Habitat for Humanity's miracle summer of 1988 Featured in this 18 minute show are former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn, Mayor Andrew Young, and Miller Fuller, the founder and Executive Director of Habitat International. A new local video of 10 min. will follow showing the 14 houses built by thermal Belt Habitat during the past 7 years and the Habitat Re sale Store in Landrum which is expanding this month. Refreshments will be served during a social hour following the video presentations. The public is invited to meet the many Habitat volunteers who have made Thermal Belt Habitat the second most productive affiliate in North Carolina out of 57 chapters.
