A Black Theatre group will be among the many artists and actors that will take part in Winston-Salem's first downtown festival on September 22, The festival, called "Street Scene 25" * is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and continued .until 7 p.m. This celebration of the Winston-Salem Art Council, its 25th anniversary. The Winston-Salem Art Council is the nation's, oldest art council _ , Dancers, musicians, performers ' and actors will be featured in this "Street Scene 25" celebration. Festival locations wttttnelude : 4th Street from Cherry to Main, the Trade Street Mall, Liberty Street from 5th to the NCNB Building, streets surrounding the court house, and 3rd Street from Moin n Ka ?/*?? Musie consists of hymns, anthems and Spirituals, in which we attempt to sing music that reaches everyone. (a rock group), Amani Urithi (a black theatre group), and clogging demonstrations. In addition, artists from the Associated Artists of WinstonSalem, the Winston-Salem Crafts Guild, Piedmont Craftsmen, Spinners and Weavers Guild,"will all be displaying and selling their Carolina ^Art Truck and the Forsyth County Fun Center will also occur. Winston-Salem's Top Gospel group in jusfone year, will be celebrating - their First 1 Anniversary at Carver High School Sunday, Sept. 22, 1974 at 8 o'clock p.m. . j Their special guests will be the Violenairs of Detroit, Michigan, Tyler, Texas. The Gospel Stylistics was organized in October, 1973 and had their debut at Carver High School on February 3, 1974. This was the first time the group as a - whole appeared before the nnKl ir? I In the month of April, The ] Gospel Stylistics performed at Florida A & M~ University, and following, they took a three week tour of Miami, Fla., after -perColiseum. . Their first release?was? "Somebody's Bigger" and "What It Means to Have a Friend". They will have an album out about the first of December. The Gospel Stylistics are as follows: Charlie Jones, manager; Daniel Pridgen, asst. manager; Melvin Hill Jr., Henry Austin, Alphonso Benton, John Gore, and Donnie Brown. The musicians' are: Carl Hines, Robert Crawford and Ed Brown. The Gospel Stylistics ask everybody to join in and help celebrate their first-Big Great Anniversary.
