feller ear-Her this week that he
will not be a Vice Presidential
candidate in 1976 has caused
quite a stir in the Republican
Party.
Many party members feel

of election in 1976 have been
greatly enhanced by Rockerfeller's
decision, while others
feel that this will hurt him
considerably.
This week the "Man in the
Street" asked the City's
citizens what effect the
Rockerfellerdecision will have.
Dale Mathews, 27, said, "I
don't think it will help Ford.
Rockefeller's resignation only
gets rid of half the.problem.
Ford is the other half"
Stephen Gould, 39, commented,
"I thinkRockerfeller's
resignation will help the
President. It solidifies the
majority of southern conservatives
behind Ford and hurts
Reagan's chances of upsetting
him. However, a lot still
depends on who replaces
Rocky."
Lonnie Blue, 35, answered,
44I don't think this will help
Ford, because Rockerfeller
would have been a good
running mate, he's been in
politics a long time."
Candise Hopkins, 27, com
mentea, "l doubt that it will
help, with what Nixon did it's
going to be hard for any
republican to win in '76, plus
Ford has been a flop himself/'

William Fair, 32, said, "I'd
rather for him to stay'on the
ticket, but his resignation
really won't mean anything to
me. 1 wouldn't vote for Ford
with or without Rocky."
C.C. Hobson, 68, stated, "I
don't think it will help Ford's
chances. I'm a strong
democrat and I wouldn't vote
for any republican. Ford has
done a very poor job as

President."
Mary Jean Belton, answered,
"I don't think Rocky's
decision will have anything to
do with the election. Mr. Ford
has been in office long enough 9
to make his own decision."
From the answers given by
the people interviewed .the
indication is that Rockerfellow's
decision will have little or no
influence on the outcome of
the 1976 Presidential election.
