A city official said they (police) began watching Mrs. Cheek when they spotted her coming out of the man's house. The official said Mrs. Cheek was seen going in and coming out of the man's house ? several times while on duty. A meeting was held last month in the office of Orville Powell, city manager. At that time, Thomas Surratt, chief of police stated that Mrs^Cheek was relieved of her duties for what he called "conduct unbecoming to an officer." After that meeting, Powell did not make any statement until he had a chance to look at all of the evidence. Last week, he stated that he upheld chief Surratt's dismissal of Mrs. Cheek.
