Williams Auditorium on Friday, October 27, 1978. This famed traveling fash ion show is produced by EBONY magazine and is sponsored by the Winston- Salem Urban League Guild for the benefit of its Scho larship Fund. Mrs. Eunice W. John son, producer and director of the show, personally selected fashions from the exciting American and Eu ropean collections of such famed designers as Halston, Anne Klein, Koos Van Den Akker, Mary McFadden, Richard Assatly, James Daugherty, Stephen Burrows, Jeffrey Banks, Cerruti, Castleba- jac, Givency, Enzo Russo, Antionelli and Lanvin. Mrs. Johnson’s yearly visits to the fashion capitals of the world are made for the exclusive purpose of bringing back the most spectacular garments available for EBONY Fash ion Fair. She is meticulous and thorough as evidenced by the continuing demand for sponsorship by organi zations all over the country. Tlhe show consists of more than 200 garments complete with the latest accessories, 10 female and 2 male models, a commen tator, music director, stage and business managers and wardrobe staff. Because of the unprecedented demand for sponsorship of the show from organizations, EBONY Fashion Fair now tours two seasons - the East from September through December and the South west from January through April - appearing in more than 162 cities. Mrs. Hazel B. Scott, general chairman of the benefit performance indi cates ticket sales are going exceptionally well and ex pects and even larger at tendance than last year. Clements-Gaithers Host Reunion The Clement-Gaither Family Reunion was held in Mocksville, North Carolina at St. John’s AME Zion Church where Reverend Michael Ellis is pastor and a family member. The church was founded in 1837 by Albert Turner Clement who pastored for 36 years. Reverend Cle ment’s sister married into the Gaither family and from this marriage, the Gaither and Clement families be came closely knitted. Dr. Milton A. Williams of Buffalo, New York, whose mother is Lilliam Gaither Williams and father Mr. B.T. Willilams, delivered the morning convocation. His first sermon was given at this church some years ago. Mr. Fred Parker gave presentations to the two oldest members of the Gaither-Clement families: Ms. Esabel Nicholas of the Gaither Family and Dr. Ava Clement Jackson. Dr. Jackson who is a well-known commentator throughout the nation and who has traveled to many parts of the country gave a very detailed history of the family ties. It was noted that the family has records traced back to the seven install- Iments of the Clement slaves and followups of both families. A book will be bound in the future for each member to review. Dinner followed in the lower auditorium after Ikwhich the, business meet ing was held. The Reunion will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina next July 27 and 28th. The Love, Hope, and Charity Club of Thurmond Street started it’s Fall acti vities with a picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warden Bankhead of Baux Mountain Road, Saturday September 16th. The club, whose president is Mrs. Margaret V. Speas, had been inactive during July and August. It meets each 2nd Friday the remainder of the year. On Saturday, after games were played and much fellowship on the patio and lawn of the Bankhead’s home, the members and their guests enjoyed a delicious buffet “picnic dinner” consisting of Barbecued Chicken, va rious salads, pickles, des sert, and soft drinks. Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Shaffner, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, Mrs. Hester McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bigelow, (Mr. Elmer Speas, husband of Pres, and four of their grandchildren, Mrs. Willie Mae Benson and Mr. War- dell Bankhead, whose wife is Mrs. Pearl Bankhead. Members of Psi Phi Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. sponsored a Disco Dance at the Regency Room, Hyatt House on Friday, September 8, 1978 from 9:00 P.M. until 1:00 A.M.. The Ques were saying “THANKS” to their wives and sweethearts for their cooperation and work in making the District Meet ing a tremendous success (April 20 - April 23,1978). Those present for the affair were: The Virgil Sim psons, The Lemuel John sons, The William Hofflers, The Talmadge C. Tillmans, The Thomas L. Clarkes, The Thomas Trollingers, The Edward Lewises, The Willie Richardsons, Robert E. Harrison, The William Crewses, The R.J. Plum mers, The John Hausers, The C. Brady Hausers, Frederick Douglas and Mrs. Betty Johnson, C.L. Davis, The Emory Joneses, R. Lewis Ray and The Rudolph V. Boones. Robert (Bobby) Brower, Jr. was Disc-Jockey for the affair. During the intermis sion, R.V. Boone (out-going basileus) presented the gavel to the new basilelus, Virgil G. Simpson.
