Heading the list of black college selectees was Alcorn State defensive back Roynell Young, who was picked by Philadelphia on the first round. Young was the 23rd player taken in the draft. Of all the black college players drafted, pro scouts say Young has the best chance of starting his first season in the NFL. Eagles' Coach Dick Vermeil was very high on Young. 44We rated him as one of the top defensive backs in the country," Vermeil said. 44We were very happy to get him.
