and a member of the Reynolds Temple CME Church.
Mr. Hunter was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a graduate
of Parkland High School and Forsyth Technical Institute.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sharon B. Hunter, of
the home; two daughters, Miss Kizzy Hunter, and Miss
Vena Hunter; one son, Vernon Hunter, Jr., all of the
home; three sisters, Mrs. Vickie L. Hairston, of this city,
Mrs. Brenda C. Cunningham, of Eagle, Idaho, and Mrs.
Lydia D. Scott, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; three brothers,
Mr. Donald Ray Hunter, Mr. Johnell Hunter, and Mr.
Stanley Hunter, all of this city; his mother, Mrs. Jessie
M. Crokett, step-father, Mr. Oscar Crokett, 111; his
father, Mr. John Jeter, and other relatives. Funeral services
were conducted Monday, March 12 at 12 noon at
the Reynolds Temple CME Church, with Rev. James
Goodwin officiating. Interment followed in the
Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Alice James Beckham
Mrs. Alice James Beckham, of Philadelphia, Pa., died
Saturday, March 10, in that city. She was a native of this
city and a graduate of the Atkins High School. Mrs.
Beckham was of the Holiness faith. Surviving are a
daughter, Mrs. Consulla Prey, of Philadelphia; a son,
.Mr. William Beckham, Jr., of Philadelphia; two
^brothers, Mr. Jessie James, of this city, and Mr. Walter
James, of Alexandria, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary
James, Mrs. Alma Holton, Mrs. Rosa Buroughs, and
Miss Dlores James, all of this city, and other relatives.

. Mr. Theodore Woodard
Mr. Theodore Woodard, of 626 Voss Street, passed
away March 11 at the North Carolina Baptist Hospitial.
A native of Columbia. SC. havino livpH in thic fnr
the past 40 years. He was an employee of the Burlington
Mills, and a veteran of World War II, and was of the
Methodist faith. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Mary
Hairston, Mrs. Bessie B. Lyles, Mrs. Carolina Walker,
Mrs. Deloise McDaniel, Mrs. Geraldine Bitting, and Mrs.
Louise Foy; a brother, Mr. Calvin McDaniel, Jr.; a
sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Woodard; a devoted friend,
Mrs. Brenda Gallaway and other relatives.

Graveside services for Mrs. Lucille Abrams, of 747
_ Colton Street, who passed away March 5, at N.C. Baptist
Hospital, were conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at
Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. B. F. Daniels officiating.
Johnson's Home of Memory was in charge of all services
and arrangements.

at which time it was placed in the church until the funeral

given by Beauty of West Chapter #36, Order of Eastern
Star.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eloise Lowery Mitchell, of
Pine Ridge Trailer Park, Yadkinville, N.C., were held on

The remains did repose in the funeral home until
