The guest speaker for the 11 a.m. service will be Dr. Lelia L. Vickers, professor in the department of education at Winston-Salem State University. Vickers holds a bachelor of arts degree from Miles College, a master's degree from Atlanta University and a doctorate from Duke University. Her areas of specialization are English and reading. At WSSU, Vickers coordinates the reading program, is the advisor to the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, is an alternate to the Educational Council of which she is a past chairperson. Vickers is known throughout the community for her consultantship and involvement in local service orgainzations, NAACP, cultural activities and church-related activities. Within the Baptist faith, Vickers is recognized for her contributions statewide and at Mars Hill Baptist Church where she holds membership. She is advisor to the Forsyth County Young People's Missionary Group as well as program coordinator^At Mars Hill she is coordinator of the Young Adult Department, advisor to the youth department, member ot the senior missionary circle, superintendent for the beginner's department of the Sunday School, member of the senior choir, assistant church organist and advisor to the young adult choir. Mrs. Sarah Conrad, a member of New Light Baptist Church, will be the guest soloist. She attended WSSU and is a graduate of McLean's Stenographic and Tutoring Wt VHE l**? The speaker for the program will be Mrs. Irene P. Hairston. She is an active member of the church and a former teacher and civic worker. She is presently serving as chairman of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Library Board, vice chairman of the planning board, vice chairman of the Urban League Board and many other state and national committees. A special recognition will be given to the four oldest mothers. Music will be furnished by the combined choirs. The Rev. Robert H. Bailey is the pastor. m m Dr. Lelia Vickers t Service. Ij Choir honors Ingram I TheTirst Calvary Baptist Church Senior Choir andLthe Men's Chorus presented a program May 6 in honor of Anna McCall Ingram for her 28 years of dedicated church service in a program called "A Tribute -- This Is n Your Life." Among the 100 guests attending the tribute were John Booth, principal of Germanton Elementary School, and Lee Lemon, principal of Pine Hall Elementary. Mrs. Ingram is the mother three daughters, Mrs. Harriett Rodriguez of New York, Mrs. Peggy Cameron and M s. Linda Wright, both of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Ingram, who was presented with plaque and a gift of money, is a native of Winston-Salem. She is a graduate of Winston-Salem Teachers College (now Winston-Salem State University), where she received a bachelor's degree. She earned h^r master's degree from A&T State University.
