Bensons Musical Travel
Club presents concert
The Bensons Musical Travel Club will present a
"Saturday Night Live" gospel concert Saturday, May 19,
from 7-9 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church on Lansing
Drive.
Special guests will be the Central Orphanage Choir of
Oxford and the Totrence Family Singers of Baltimore,
Md.

Booker and Easter Winn, Union Baptist Church Male
Chorus, United House of Prayer Choir, Macedonia True
Vine Penecostal Holiness Church Choir, the Gospel
Stylistics and the combined choirs of Antioch.
The purpose of the concert is to help raise funds for the
Children's Division of the club to take a European tour
of seven countries in June.
Westbeny for second
place and Jamilia Ross as the third-place winner.
Special selections will be delivered by Daren Funderburk
and Mrs. Cynthia Williams.

The United Methodist Men of St. Paul United
Methodist Church honored all mothers of the church at
the Mother's Day Breakfast held Sunday, May 13.
The guest speaker was Dr. Virginia K. Newell, professor
of mathematics at Winston-Salem State University
and a member of the city's Board of Aldermen.
James Orange, a member of the planning committee,
presided. The welcome message was brought by Carlton
Holland. Acie McGhee, president of the UMM, gave the
occasion. Dr. Newell was introduced by William E.
Mckoy Sr. Lucius Smith offered the prayer. Music was

Avenue, died May 8th at Forsyth Memorial Hospitals He
was a native of Greenville, S.C. and had lived in this city
for most of his life.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church,
Layman's league, YMCA^the Senior Citzens of the YMCA
and was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco
Co.
Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Essie Setzer
? Brown of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Le Naye
Mayfield of Louisville, Ky, and Ms. N. Jonne Brown of
Champagne, 111; one son, Mr. John P. Brown, Jr. of
Boston, Mass; one sister, Mrs. Callie Brown of New
York and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted May 11th at 4:00 pm
at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. K.O.P. Goodwin
officiating. Interment followed in the Piedmont
Memorial Gardens.
Hooper Funeral Directors were in charge of services.
Mr. Hubert Minyard Robinson
Mr. Hubert Minyard Robinson, of 1509 E. 15th St.,
died May 7th at N.C. Baptist Hospital. He was a native
of this city a veteran of World War II and of the Baptist
faith.

Future plans for the group were announced by Mr. I
Orange. Some of the plans will involve the Youth
Ministries and other groups at St. Paul. Visitors present I
included retired professor and husband of the guest
speaker, George Newell.
The Rev. Belvin Jessup gave the closing remarks and i
commended the UMM program.
Other members of the planning committee include
Verdell Michaux, Howard Lowe and Paul Linton.

Surviving relatives are two sons, Mr. Hubert Robin-_.
son, Jr., and Mr. Kelvon Robinson; five daughters, Ms.

Robinson, Ms. Debra Robinson and Ms. Avis Robinson;
two brothers, Mr. John A. Robinson and Mr. David
Robinson; one sister, Ms. Elease Robinson; seven grandchildren,
and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted May 12th at 4:00 pm
in the Chapel of the Hooper Funeral Home, with Rev.
R.C. Wilkins officiating. Interment followed in the
Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. James Edward Page, of 494 Liberia St., died May
11th at his residence. He was a native of this city, a
. faithful member of the Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church
and a retired employee of the City of Winston-Salem.
Surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Madgalen Wall
and Mrs. Georglna McCoy both of this city and other
relatives.
Funeral services were conducted May 15th at 4:30 pm
at the Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church.
