Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Directors were in charge of services. Mr. Eugene Haney, Jr. Mr. Eugene Haney, Jr., of Philadelphia, Pa, died May 15th in that city. He was a native of this city, a former member of Macedonia Holiness Church in this city, was a faithful member of Gethsemane Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Philadelphia and was employed at Philadelphia Home for the physically disabled. Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Bumetta Haney, of the home; his father, Mr. Eugene Haney, Sr.; his stepmother, Mrs. Rosa Lee Haney of this city; two sisters, Ms. Bertha Haney and Mrs. Maxine Simon; two brothers, Mr. Ronald Haney and Mr. Emmanuel Haney; mother-in-law and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted May 21st at 2:00 pm at Union Mission Holy Church with Elder Joseph Lowery officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. * Hooper Funeral Directors were in charge o f services. Mr. Madison J. Peebles Mr. Madison J. Peebles, of Rt. 2, Box 56, Advance, NC died May 19th at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Davie County and a faithful member of Mt. Sinai AME Zion Church. Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Olar Clyburn Peebles of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Berry; four brothers, Mr. Duff Peebles, Mr. Edward Peebles, Mr. James Peebles, and Mr. Jay Peebles; several grandchildren and other relatives. He was a native of this~cityra faithful member of St. Stephens Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher, Deacon of St. Stephen's Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Eddie McClendon Funeral services for Mr. Eddie McClendon, of 1310 Gholson St., will be conducted May 17 at 4:30 p.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. K.O.P. Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The body will remain at Gilmore's until 3:30 p.m. at which time it will be taken to the church until the funeral hour and will not be viewed after the Eulogy. The procession will leave the residence at 4:10 p.m. enroute to the church. Arrangements entrusted to and services will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Directors. The body remained at Gilmore's until the funeral hour. The family received friends Friday evening at Gilmore's from 7:30 until 8 p.m. and the procession left the home of Mrs. Ethel Brooks. Arrangements entrusted to and services will conducted by Gilmore Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mamie Curry Croff Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Curry Croff, of Farrockaway, N.Y. will be conducted May 18 at 4 p.m. from the First Baptist Church in Lexington where Rev. Ernest Garrett will officiate and interment in the Lexington City Cemetery. The family received friends Friday at the First Baptist Church from 3:30 until 4 p.m. followed by the funeral service. Arrangements entrusted to and service will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Directors. Miss Scol/ett L. Witherspoon Funeral Services for Miss Scollett L. Witherspoon, of 3047 Greenway Ave., will be conducted May 20 at 1 p.m. from the St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Belva J. Jessup officiating and interment in the Evergreen Cemetery. The body remained at Gilmore's until 12:30 p.m. at which time it was taken to the church until the funeral hour and was not viewed after the Eulogy. Mrs. Mary Effie Fa is on Brown Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Effie Faison Brown, of 1011 N. Cameron Ave., were held on May 9 at 4:00 p.m in First Baptist Church with Dr. David R. Hedgely officiating. The body remained in Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home until 3:00 p.m. at which time it was placed in state in the church until the funeral hour. Mr. Fred Douglas Lawson Shelton Mr. Fred Douglas Lawson Shelton, of 1603 Thurmond St., died May 13th in Forsyth Memorial Hospital. The body remains were removed to Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home. He was a native of Union County, SC and had lived in this city for over forty-five years, was of the baptist faith, a veteran of World War II, an employee of the City of Winston-Salem, a member of the Morris L. Slaughtet Post No. 128 American Legion, and held membership ir the Retired Men's Social Club. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Ms. Kathy Lynr Durham of this city; one sister, Ms. Bertha Shelton ol Union, SC; one brother, Mr. Ferdinand Shelton o Gastonia, NC; one grandson, one nephew and othe: relatives and friends.
