Page B4-The Chronicle, Tt" Old Town June 1 was the last day of the 1984 school year for the students in the WinstonSalem/Forsyth County School System and it was the last day of classes for the sixth-graders at Old Town School. The Student Committee is made up of those students in the sixth grade who possess excellent leadership nilQlitlAC T U/n r? nrl i r ifUMiiuvo. m n v oi uuVrll 13 from each sixth-grade class were chosen to represent their homeroom on the committee. This year, Ms. Clories P. Shore, a second-grade teacher at Old Town, and Bf*r. ? A? one of the. L983-84 finalists for Teacher of the Year in the school system, and Larry Womble, assistant principal at Old Town, were the advisors for the committee. Under the leadership of these two educators, the committee provided excellent service to the school and the community. During the 1983-84 school year, the group sponsored a food and household items give-away for needy families in the community. The boxes were donated to the Crisis Control Ministries and the Exc.if n.i: ? ^ciuiiciu in .acn-ivciiantc Inc. in the name of the Old Town School Student Committee. The committee also sponsored a mailbox project. Students, teachers and staff were encouraged to use the mailbox to mail cards and greeting to their friends and classmates within the school during special holidays.
