Williams Auditorium on the Campus of Winston-Salem State University. Featured on the musical program are area choirs, groups and individuals. Gents chairman, 44Rip" Wilkins, says the organization is striving to get all sectors of the community involved with the non-profit, community-oriented group. "Although this is a fundraising program for us, it is an attempt on our part to diversify our functions," Wilkins says. "We plan to use different methods from those related to the nightclubs as far as the Sophisticated Gents are concerned. "We've gotten a lot of feedback from the community showing a real interest in the programs we've had. Still, a lot of people feel that we only cater to the partying, nightclub crowd." Some of the choirs performing will be the Macedonia Holiness Church Choir, Union Baptist Young Adult Choir, Piney Grove Baptist Church Young Adult Choir and the youth choir of Cappadocia Holiness Church. Performing a duet on the program will be Evangelist Vanessa Jeter and Maxine Gwynn. Also, Evangelist Marlene Jones will perform. "Since this is the last Sophisticated Gents function before the fall, we really woulc^ like to have the community's support," says Wilkins. "I feel confident that the program will be carried out very nicely and we'll be adding other choirs and groups as the week goes along."
