Church choii The Adult and Junior Choirs of First Baptist Church recently honored Mrs. Curtiss T. Joshua with an appreciation service for her 22 years of dedicated church service at a 4 p.m. celebration Sunday, July 8. The late Mrs. Mamie Wilson, who directed the junior choir for more than 22 years, was also honored. Mrs. Joshua, who taught music in the public school system here and in her home, served as church pianist and organist for First Calvary. She is a native of Florence, S.C., and received her bachelor's degree in music education from Wins.t on-Salem Teachers College (ikwt WiivstoTi^ Salem State University) and received her master's degree from North Carolina A&T State University. Joining choir members in the celebration were Mrs. Joshua's sister, Mrs. Lila T. Davis. Other guests were Mrs. Hattie Jeter, Mrs. Madie Caldwell, Mrs. Dollean Johnson and Ms. Hythia Evans. The Rev. W.L. Wilson, pastor of First Calvary, commended the long-time church worker for her dedication to the church youth. During the service, Mrs. Joshua was presented with an appreciation plaque, a money tree, a crystal bowl of candy and note cards in the form of a keyboard symbolizing her love for music and many other gifts. Participants in the program in Church to hostj Fellowship services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the City of God Prayer Fellowship at 2201 N.E. 23rd St. Elders Ashley Thompson, Sylvester Johnson, Lewis Hunter and Richard Hickman will lead the service.
