First place winner was the Aster Garden Club of Henderson. Second place went to the Town and Country Garden Club of Warrenton. Third place winner was the Snap Dragons Garden Club of Franklinton. The three fourth place winners were the Flower Niche Garden Club of Winston-Salem, the Old Fashion Garden Club of Louisburg and the Orlando Garden Club of Laurinburg. Reynolds High School, has been awarded the Naval Aircrew Insignia. Everhart earned the aircrewman designation by comoletine extensive around and flight instruction. The insignia was presented during ceremonies at the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, where he serves with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. Marine Pvt. Matthew K. Latten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew E. Latten of WinstonSalem, and Marine Pvt. Jonnie R. Braboy, son of Dorothy Braboy of Winston-Salem, have completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. During the 11-week training cycle, both learned the basics of battlefield survival. The Outstanding Young Men of America and the United States Jaycees annually honor awardees. Smart, a native of WinstonSalem, is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and North Carolina Central University. He is an assistant sales research manager with the Hanes Group division, L'EGGS. His numerous civic and profes sionaT affiliations include the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Salem Lodge No. 139, Prince Hall Masons. Smart is married to Concord native Trudy Stafford Smart. His topic of discussion was "Beautification Through Recycling of Plant Materials." The convention program was dedicated to Thomas Flowers of Greensboro, who died April 7, 1984. Flowers was honored for his years of service to the organization. A special thanks was extended to the newiy-rormea Bouquet of Elegance Garden Club of Wilmington, which served as the convention host.
